Women and Woodworking

In this women-only class, you will learn shop safety, tool skills, measurement, design, construction, and finishing, then use your skills to make a cool floor lamp (or make a desk-sized's your lamp).

During the class you’ll be using the professional workshop at the Spaulding Marine Center, but you’ll learn about relatively-inexpensive hand and power tools you can use at home.

Mélanie Lopez holds a Vocational Training Certificate in boatbuilding from the Poinso-Chapuis School in Marseille, and a Master of Industrial System Engineering from the University of Technology in Lille. She has been a marine carpenter and boatbuilder at the Spaulding Marine Center for one year.

$175 for this all-day class, limited to 8 students. All tools and materials are provided.
