After our very popular session in December, we're holding this "master class" focusing on more advanced splicing. In this one-day seminar, limited to ten attendees, you will learn how to splice braided lines and other high tech materials, such as Spectra/Dyneema and 8-strand line.
For this class a set of Sampson fids and a pusher are needed. There will be several sets on loan for the class, but for splicing braided line you should have a set, available at any chandlery.
The Instructor: A long-time friend of the Spaulding Marine Center, Jim Linderman came of age in the Stone Boatyard, where his father & grandfather were longtime boatbuilders. Jim went on to earn his 3000-Ton Master’s license after sailing on various traditionally-rigged sailing vessels throughout the world. Jim rigged the Spaulding Marine Center’s 1885 gaff-rigged sloop, Freda, the oldest sailing yacht on the west coast. Jim continues to oversee, maintain, and upgrade Freda’s traditional rigging.
$50 course fee, lunch and coffee bar included.
