Introduction to Marine Corrosion - November 8

$85.00

Saturday, November 8

9:00 am ~ 3:00 pm

In this one-day workshop you will learn about the basics of marine corrosion, woodburning, and electrical shock hazards. The seminar will cover the different grounding systems aboard a vessel, and how to safely install/troubleshoot each. An introduction to bonding, cathodic protection, and proper anode use is presented for the everyday boat owner, as well as the different types of corrosion to look out for.

The incredibly important and misunderstood topic of “Hot Marinas” and AC circuit safety for swimmers and surrounding boats will be covered in detail.

This course is appropriate for new and experienced boat owners/technicians alike. Example issues and suggested solutions will be presented for each topic.

The Instructor: Malcolm Morgan is a marine electrician with over 40 years experience in marine electrical, corrosion control, and shock hazard mitigation. His long career in the boating industry includes affiliations with ABYC, NFPA, as well as NAMS and SAMS surveyor associations. His client list includes nearly every harbor and boatyard in the SF Bay Area, the US Coast Guard, several America’s Cup campaigns, and many State and Federal agencies. He is a licensed yacht salesman with the State of California.
