1:00pm ~ 3:00 pm

US Coast Guard licensed Captain Heather Richard of Fine Day for Sailing (finedayforsailing.com) will lead a hands-on navigation class covering the tools sailors are actually using on the water today. The class moves through chartplotter basics, iPad navigation apps, and the latest devices available, with a mix of instruction and hands-on practice. She’ll showcase options for all budgets.Class includes portable options for kayakers and anyone out on the water on any craft.

You'll learn how to read charts and build situational awareness, plan routes, set waypoints, and get comfortable moving between different devices and platforms so you're never dependent on just one system.

Heather has been sailing since age 4, holds a 100-ton captain's license, and has logged thousands of offshore miles including a 5,000-nautical-mile voyage to the Sea of Cortez. She's also currently beta-testing new navigation technology, so the class reflects what's current and what's coming. Whether you're brand new to electronic navigation or looking to sharpen your skills, this is a rare chance to learn from someone with serious real-world experience. All levels welcome.
