Woodworking: Build a Steep Stool

$400.00

Dates: September 23, 24, 30 & Oct 1 in the evenings from 6 to 9 pm.

Prerequisite: Prior woodworking class experience required

Conifer Step Stool with Domino Joinery

In this hands-on woodworking class, students will build a beautifully crafted step stool from conifer wood, combining practical skills with refined design. The stool features elegantly curved (“swung”) legs and a shaped apron, created using either a bandsaw or a router jig for smooth, flowing lines.

Participants will learn how to use Domino joinery for strong, precise assembly, while also gaining a foundational understanding of traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery by hand. The project includes constructing a comfortable, functional top with an integrated handhold cutout for easy carrying.

Throughout the course, students will focus on proper glue-up techniques for both the stool base and top, ensuring durability and a clean finish. By the end, each student will leave with a sturdy, attractive step stool and a solid grasp of both modern and traditional joinery methods.

Your class tuition helps support Spaulding youth programs and BW101, thank you!
